Relinquishment of Command and Deactivation Ceremony at Land Forces CTC

The ceremony was attended by the unit personnel, brigade and battalion commanders, representatives from different Defense and Public Order institutions and, last but not least, the 2WW veteran, 2LT (r) Ioan Cristea.

COL Nicolae IOAN began his military career as an Infantry Platoon Commander after graduating “Nicolae BĂLCESCU” Military School for Actives Officers. After attending the Infantry Captain’s Career Course, he was appointed Infantry Battalion Commander.  Following his first battalion command, he served as 26th Infantry Battalion Deputy Commander. Upon completion of that assignment, he was assigned head of Intelligence Office at a Brigade Staff level.

He returns in Command in 2005 as the 20th Infantry Battalion Commander, then appointed head of Operations at 2nd Infantry Brigade in Craiova, Dolj. COL IOAN served as 26th Infantry Battalion Deputy Commander during “Enduring Freedom” mission in Afghanistan and as 20th Infantry Battalion Commander during “Antica Babilonia” mission in Iraq.

The outgoing Commander relinquished the command after six years of brilliant leadership, outstanding training, and unprecedented achievements with the Romanian Land Forces Combat Training Center “GETICA”.

COL Ilie BACIU began his military career as a Field Artillery Platoon leader and was appointed Battery commander at a FA Battalion. Following his first Battery command, he served as Chief of Intelligence at 61st Mountain Brigade. Following that, he served as a Field Artillery Battalion Commander. Before being assigned as Chief of Operations at the Romanian Land Forces Combat Training Center “GETICA”, he served as Liaison officer for ministers, CMO at the Multinational Headquarter in Bagdad, Iraq.

 He continued his military career as Chief of Staff at the Romanian Land Forces Combat Training Center “GETICA” and beginning with 2010, he is the unit Deputy Commander.

COL BACIU’s military schooling includes the Command and Staff Course at the National Defense University, International Staff Officer Course at the National Defense College in Netherlands, Senior Command Course at the Land Forces Command Academy in Nanjing, China. He graduated also the Strategic Command Post University Course at National Defense University “Carol I” in Bucharest.
